Dear Mountain Community,

Thanks to the donors of the past week, we are pleased to report that we have now funded our Tier 3 priorities! Congratulations to all who have generously stepped forward on behalf of our students, teachers and schools! And thank you in advance to those who will contribute in the days to come.

As a reminder, our Tier 3 priorities were as follows:

Music – K-5

Core Flexibility and Elective Options for 6th and 7th Grade

As we enter the campaign’s homestretch, we are looking to fund our designated Tier 4 priorities in the month of May. As outlined, they are:

Tier 4

Technology Instructional Support

Inclusive Enrichment for Grades 4-8

Art in Action

Now that our schools finally have a full Gig of bandwidth, our teachers are ready to grow in their engagement with instructional technology. An educational technology specialist, as designated in Tier 4, works in elementary, middle and secondary public schools. These technology specialists help teachers and school administrators integrate and implement various technology- based learning tools for the instruction of students. They play a pivotal role in identifying the best educational technology and learning applications, including addressing needs of special education students. They assist school administrators in identifying and correcting problems and deficiencies within their current technology-based programs. We need this to help keep our students on par with their peers who join them at Los Gatos High School.  Students in the Los Gatos District have had the benefit of their Education Fund paying for this position for several years.

In addition, our Tier 4 Inclusive enrichment options for grades 4-8 is a set of coordinated activities such as Brainology, growth mindset, performing arts, speech and debate, writing anthologies, math and science STEM or STEAM, or expanded curriculum supporting grade-level trips such as the Yosemite trip, science camp, living history experiences, etc. We also fund our very popular Art in Action program.

If you haven’t already done so, we hope you’ll give consideration to our suggested KEEP! donation amounts of $800 for one child and $1,200 for two or more.  Any donation amount is greatly appreciated and will help our community reach our goal.

Please visit our website at www.lpef.org/keep for donation information.

As always, if you have any questions or comments, please reach out to me at president@lpef.org or another LPEF Volunteer Governing Board member.

Sincerely,
